Description

• Aster is a Dolman-sleeve dress with a flared midi-length skirt, designed for knit fabrics. Aster features a built-up neck at the back that transitions into a stylish surplice neckline at the front.
  The bodice features elegant front and back pleats, creating a beautifully draped fit that cinches into the fitted waistline. The flared skirt is designed to hit just above the ankle, giving the dress a sophisticated tea-length look. The sleeves, which are intended to fit quite closely at the wrist, are wonderfully long, enhancing the dress’s sleek, feminine feel. View B includes a cap-sleeved, drop-shoulder bodice for a closer-fitting alternative to the dolman style.

Aster is an Easy-Make pattern, perfect for creating a graceful dress that effortlessly combines comfort and style.

The Model is 5’2 (157 cm) with a Bust-Waist-Hip of 36-31-39.5 inches (91-79-100 cm) at the time of shooting the pictures and is wearing a size 10 with length adjustments for shorter figures. Aster, as other SewExplicit patterns, is designed for a height range of 5’5 to 5’8 (165 to 173 cm). The teal was made from an earlier version of the pattern during development, and the pattern has since been tightened around the neck to eliminate gape. I have included the teal pictures to show the style lines, which may not be obvious in the print.

Size Range: women’s sizes 6-22  to fit waist 26- 42 inches (66-107 cm), B-cup bust fullness, across 9 sizes.

Ease: The Aster pattern is designed for moderate stretch knits with negative ease around the waist

Layers: This PDF sewing pattern has a layers feature that allows you to print only the size(s) you need. The pattern is also coded with different line types to help you identify and trace the correct size.

Measurement System: Imperial (inches) and Metric (cm). This pattern has been drafted using the imperial system, and conversions to metric are approximate. View the Measurement chart in the picture gallery.

Difficulty:  Adventures Beginner to Intermediate

Supplies and materials:

• moderate-stretch, medium-weight knit fabrics (approximately 220–290 GSM) with elastane/lycra/spandex content, good drape, and excellent stretch recovery. Choose fabrics with 30–40% crosswise stretch — meaning a 10 cm piece should stretch to 13–14 cm and return to its original length without distortion
• Jersey/Stretch Needle.
